Whats Up Gets First Win in Will Rogers' AQHA Maiden Challenge

CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 5, 2017—Whats Up, a 3-year-old daughter of the California-based stallion Kiddy Up, got her first career win on Sunday when she defeated Safari Moonlight by a neck in the $23,622 AQHA Maiden Challenge (not black type) at Will Rogers Downs. Jm Nanette finished another neck back in a blanket finish to get third.

Ridden by jockey Paul Nieto, Whats Up completed the 350 yards in :18.161 seconds into a 13-mph crosswind to pick up the winner's payoff worth $11,339.

Trainer Leonardo Reza conditions the California-bred filly for owner Diego Arroyo. Bred by Edward C. Allred, from the Tr Dasher mare Now What, Whats Up has compiled an (11) 1-3-3 record and banked $21,907.

Runner-up Safari Moonlight is an Oklahoma homebred racing for owner/breeder Donald Friesen. Jockey Jorge Torres had the riding call aboard the One Famous Eagle filly for trainer Shawna Manriquez. Out of Protea, by The Signature, Safari Moonlight earned $4,482 for her effort.

Making only her fourth career start the lightly raced Jm Nanette earned $2,362 for finishing third. Tana Caldwell conditions the California homebred daughter of Favorite Cartel for owner/breeders Judd and Mildred Morse. She is out of the Apollo (TB) mare Dancing Iam.

Kr Powder, A Secret Strawfly, Srd American Achara and Shenoshowtofly completed the field.
