SELMA, TX—JUNE 27, 2017—David L. Martinez’s Jess Adalida, a stakes-placed daughter of champion Jess Louisiana Blue, will make her next start in Saturday’s 350-yard John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge trials at Retama Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 12, $35,000-added Adequan Retama Derby Challenge final, the winner of which will earn a starting berth in the October 14, $130,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Prairie Meadows.

Jess Adalida is coming off of a one-length victory as the 13-10 favorite in a 350-yard, $5,200 maiden-special-weight race at Retama on June 24. The filly has earned $13,326 from four outs, and her resume includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Eagles Soar, in the 300-yard, $50,000 West Texas Juvenile Stakes at Sunland Park in April.

Jess Adalida drew post 3 and will be ridden by Cipriano Vidana for trainer Antonio Delgado Sr. in the first of six trials.
