HOUSTON, TX—APRIL 22, 2016—James Hrabovsky and Leann Nalls' homebred Teardrops At The Bar broke sharp and was much the best Friday night while setting the fastest qualifying time for the John Deere Texas Juvenile Challenge (G3) at Sam Houston Race Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from 46 Challenge Enrolled 2-Year-Olds who participated in six trial races, will return to Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday, May 14 to vie for the winner's share of a $25,000-added purse and an automatic berth to the $175,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G3) at Los Alamitos Race Course October 29th.

Coming off a three-quarter length maiden win in his first career start, Teardrops At The Bar completed his 350 yard task in :17.793 seconds, a 91 speed index, to set the top qualifying time. Jockey Luis Vivanco had the riding assignment.

For the second year in a row, trainer Brian Stroud saddled the fastest qualifier.

"He's still a little green," said Stroud. "He hasn't put it all together, but he ran a great race. It's encouraging to know he has won twice and I think he's even better than what he has shown."

James Hrabovsky and Leann Nalls bred the son of Separatist in Texas from the First To Shine mare Eye Shine Special.

Stroud and Vivanco also teamed in the final trial with Jayronimo, another two-year-old with a 2-for-2 record. The son of Jess Zoomin covered the 350 yards in :17.929 to clock the second fastest time for owner/breeder Michael Amburn.

Jayronimo broke his maiden for Amburn on April 8th with an impressive 1¼ length victory. He is out of the Game Patriot mare Dashing Patriot.

Irma Vargas' Maxx finished second to fastest qualifier Teardrops At The Bar but held on for the 3rd fastest time of :17.937. Trainer Rolando Almanza conditions the $25,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate. Friday's trials was the first career start for the son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the Bully Bullion mare Bullions N Garters. Jim Gubas is the breeder.
