Lone Star Park to Host 'Challenge Eve' Stakes Program on Friday Night

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 4, 2015—Jessa Little Rusty, a Grade 1-winning son of champion Mr Jess Perry racing for Louis Howard, is one of eight distance specialists entered in Friday’s 870-yard, $25,000 Q-Racing Video Distance Stakes at Lone Star Park.

Trained by Jose Guadalupe Cruz, Jessa Little Rusty has won five of 24 starts and has earned $117,837, and his stakes resume includes an upset victory in last year’s 870-yard, $100,000 Zoetis Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Prairie Meadows.

Jessa Little Rusty drew post 1 and will be ridden by Omar Reyes. The 5-year-old gelding’s seven opponents include CJs Rocksolid. A 5-year-old Rock Solid Jess gelding trained by Tammy Kay Johnson for owners Rockin J Running Horses and Jack Manning, CJs Rocksolid has won three races this season, including the Grade 3, $50,000 Remington Distance Handicap at Remington Park on May 30.

Pat Hernandez’s Im The Key, a 6-year-old gelded son of Shazoom and the 5-2 morning-line favorite, drew post 6 for Friday’s 440-yard, $25,000 Farnam Stakes.

Trained by Juan Martin Triana, Im The Key is coming off of a head victory as the 5-2 choice in a 330-yard allowance-optional claiming ($20,000) dash at Lone Star Park on October 4. The gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Gaspar Garcia.

Kiss The Tears Away, a 4-year-old Furyofthewind mare trained by Cindi Keeton for owners Mike Briscoe and Bobby G. Briscoe, is one of 10 distaffers entered in Friday’s 400-yard, $25,000 AQHA Members Plus Stakes.

Kiss The Tears Away has won two of six starts and has banked $20,745 this season. The mare is coming off of a fourth-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Visual Magic, in the 400-yard, $30,000 Merial Lone Star Distaff Challenge on October 3.

Kiss The Tears Away drew post 5 and will be ridden by Oscar Hernandez.

Trained by Steven Kearl, Ojo de Rey is coming off of a second-place finish to Political Debut in the October 11, $50,000 Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge. The gelding drew post 8 and will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo.

Melvin Neugebauer’s My Streakin La Jolla is one of 10 juveniles entered in Friday’s 350-yard, $25,000 Markel Stakes.

A Colorado-bred son of champion Tempting Dash trained by Wes Giles, My Streakin La Jolla is coming off of a Ruidoso Downs summer campaign in which he ran third, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Queen Catherine, in the 350-yard, $75,000 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3) in August.

Adrian Ramos will ride My Streakin La Jolla from post 5.
