MILES CITY, MT—MAY 16, 2015—Cc Tres, a 5-year-old daughter of leading sire Tres Seis, was best from the gate then held off a late rally by Zonic Zoom to win the $11,300 BHS Bonus Challenge Presented by Markel by a neck at Miles City Saturday afternoon. Miss Country Chicks finished a neck off the leaders in third.
Ridden by jockey Juan Ramirez, Cc Tres completed the 350 yard in :18.103 seconds to earn a 92 speed index and pocket the winner's check of $5,650. Owned by Ralph Young and trained by Mike Taylor, CC Tres Picked up her fourth career win and boosted her lifetime earnings mark to $31,384.
Evans & Evans and Burnett Ranches, LLC bred the bay mare in Texas from the Chicks Beduino mare Shaded In Gray. Her record stands at (19) 4-4-2.
Multiple stakes-placed Zonic Zoom was bumped at the start but rallied under jockey Chad Ekins to get the second place check of $2,825. Also trained by Taylor, the 6-year-old Shazoom gelding is owned by Movin On. Bred in Oklahoma by George Temple, Zonic Zoom is from the Vita Sign mare Miss Truckle Sign. He has earned nearly $35,000.
Miss Country Chicks faded late under rider Jondives Yazzie to pickup $1,695 for third place. Leroy Coombs trains the 6-year-old County Chicks Man mare for Curtis Real Bird and Shawn Riley. Bred in Colorado by Larry Collins, Miss Country Chicks is out of Legacys Echo, by Cash Legacy.
Teller Tango and Dash Poruno completed the field.
