Eyesa Famous Eagle Prevails In Bank of America Turf Paradise Challenge Championship

PHOENIX, AZ—APRIL 26, 2015—Texas-bred Eyesa Famous Eagle held off a late charge from Block N Tackle to win the $70,740 Bank of America Turf Paradise Challenge Championship Sunday afternoon at Turf Paradise. French Fury finished half-a-length back in the show position.

Pushed in at the start, Jockey Jarell James guided Eyesa Famous Eagle (24-1) down the inside rail to get the victory worth $32,540. It was the fourth win in 20 career starts for the One Famous Eagle gelding owned by Cesar J. Dabdoub. Third in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship(G2) last fall at Prairie Meadows, Eyesa Famous Eagle has earned $102,619.

Omar Lorta conditions the winner who was bred in Texas by Burnett Ranches, LLC from the Eyesa Special mare, Eyesa Glass. He paid $49 to win, $19.60 to place and $7.60 to show.

Graded stakes winner Block N Tackle earned $14,148 for his second place effort to boost his career mark over $210,000. Matthew Fales trains the Tac It Like a Man 6-year-old for owners Ralph and Carolyn Fales. Bred by Matthew Fales, Block N Tackle is out of the Takin On The Cash mare Watchin The Rain. Jorge Bourdieu had the riding call.

French Fury, a 5-year-old Stoli gelding owned by Angel Villalobos and trained by Guillermo Morales, picked up $7,074 for his third place effort. Rodolfo Arvizu rode the Texas-bred out of Streakin Jessie Gail, by Streakin Six. Mercy Hinklin is the breeder.

Carters Dare, Jess Secrets Br, Joe Legacy, Specials Gold, First Storm Tide and Fal Vegas completed the field.
