HOUSTON, TX—APRIL 21, 2015—Freakin Runaway, a graded stakes placed son of champion Ocean Runaway owned by Michael Amburn, is one of 25 sophomores entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Adequan Texas Derby Challenge trials at Sam Houston Race Park.
Trained by Mike Robbins, Freakin Runaway will be making his first start since October 18, when he ran third, 2-1/2 lengths behind winner AJs High, in the 350-yard, $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Prairie Meadows near Des Moines, Iowa. The gelding has won three of six starts and has earned $42,165.
Luis Ramirez will ride Freakin Runaway from post 4 in the first of three trials.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will race in the $35,000-added Adequan Texas Derby Challenge final on May 16.
