HIALEAH, FL—MARCH 3, 2015—Coming off back-to-back wins at Hialeah Park, Six Gun Shazoom held off Iz Special James off by a neck Tuesday to win the AQHA Maiden Challenge Stakes on the track closing day of live racing at 2014/2015 meet. First Down Swinger finished a head back in the show position.
Ridden by jockey Raul Gutierrez, Six Gun Shazoom completed the 300 yards in :15.511 seconds to earn a 92 speed index. It was the third consecutive win in four starts this season for the 6-year-old Oklahoma-bred son of Shazoom. The $15,600 winner's purse boosted his career total to over $51,000.

Iz Special James was gaining and just missed for owner Linda Stanley and trainer Matt Frazier. Shanley Jackson had the riding call aboard the 3-year-old Ivory James gelding out of Special Wave, by Special Leader. Bred in Oklahoma by Lucas Racing Inc. and Vaughn Cook, Iz Special James picked up $5,200 for the effort.
Still a maiden after eight career starts, First Down Swinger races for owner King Quarter Horse Corp. Eduardo Morales saddled the Swingin Jess filly with Rodrigo Vallejo riding. Narciso Flores bred the 3-year-old in Louisiana from the First Down Dash mare Shesa Firstdown Jess. She earned $2,860.
Completing the AQHA Maiden Challenge field were Scandalia, First Down McLaren B, Kissintherestgoodbye, Captivating Cara, Jess For The Roses and Zoomininthewind.
