AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—JULY 20, 2017—With a victory in Sunday’s $1 million Rainbow Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs, Eagle Jazz not only kept alive his chances for the All American Triple Crown but also earned the first unanimous No. 1 ranking this year in the AQHA Racing National Poll for 2-year-olds. All 10 voters put him at the top of the list after he won for the sixth time in seven starts and boosted his earnings to $900,449.

Uptown Dynasty, who won the June 11 Ruidoso Futurity (G1) in a dead heat with Eagle Jazz, finished three-parts of a length behind that foe in the Rainbow and moved up from No. 4 in the rankings last week to No. 2 this week.

Eagle Jazz, a One Dashing Eagle gelding bred in Oklahoma, could complete the Triple Crown with a win in the All American Futurity (G1) on Labor Day at Ruidoso Downs.

In the older-horse poll, Remington Park Invitational Championship (G1) winner Zoomin Effortlessly remained in the top spot for the eighth consecutive week, and Hold Air Hostage made a big jump from No. 7 to No. 2 after a victory in the $1.15 Rainbow Derby (G1) on Saturday at Ruidoso Downs.

The final weekend of July features numerous graded stakes in California, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, so more changes could be in store next week.
