Stall Applications Up for Hialeah Park Meet

HIALEAH, FL—NOVEMBER 25, 2015—There has been a tremendous response to upcoming American Quarter Horse Meet at Hialeah Park. According to Racing Secretary Mike Anifantis, the South Florida racetrack has received nearly 1200 stall applications.

According to FQHRA President Dr. Steve Fisch, several trainers have indicated to the association that they did not get the number of stalls they requested.

"I spoke with Mike this morning," Fisch said. "In the next few days he plans to call anyone who received a letter granting stalls to them but has not yet confirmed that they still want the stalls they were allotted . At that time there should be some cancellations and additional stalls will be granted to trainers who have made it known that they want additional stalls,".

On average at most meets, about 33% of the stalls initially applied for are not used by the original applicant. Trainers who need additional stalls can call Mike Anifantis next week at 305-885-8000 EXT 7501 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (EST) Monday through Friday.

"Hopefully the increased number of stall applications is due to the fact that Florida has adopted the ARCI model medication rules along with the fact that Florida has some of the best purses in the country," Fisch said.

Those purses include the $500,000-est. Hialeah Derby, which is the second richest derby in the country, and the $200,000-Guaranteed Sunshine State Derby, which is restricted to accredited Florida-breds.

The meet 2015/2015 Hialeah Meet begins December 26 and continues through February 29 with 40 days of AQHA racing and purses averaging over $140,000 per day.
