Wyoming Downs Reopens Historic Racing Games

EVANSTON, WY—NOVEMBER 25, 2015—Following a seven-week shutdown, Wyoming Downs announced Tuesday (Nov. 24) that its historic wagering operations had reopened at its off-track betting facilities across the state.

The track said a software issue that led to the Wyoming Attorney General's opinion that the games needed to be shut down has been resolved

A number of the popular Historic Racing Terminal games have been fired up and many of the employees have been brought back to work at all eight Wyoming Downs locations that had closed, including Cheyenne’s two locations, Evanston, Evansville/Casper, Gillette, Laramie, Rock Springs and Sheridan.

Anticipated activation of additional new Wyoming Downs games in December 2015 and February 2016 will bring an even greater diversity of Historic Racing Terminal games into compliance.

The October 2nd Pari-Mutuel Commission decision to shut down Historic Racing Terminals followed the attorney general’s opinion that the terminals did not comply with Wyoming State law, claiming they contained a component of luck or randomness, in contraction to state law which requires the terminals require patron skill. This, though Wyoming’s state legislature had approved the Historic Racing Terminals as described by those same codes.

“It’s the holidays. We’re glad to be back and we’re especially happy to bring employees back to work,” Wyoming Downs LLC's Managing Partner and part owner, Eric Nelson said.
