'Candy' Sweetens Racing Poll

Q-RACING JOURNAL—JULY 1, 2015—Things remained almost completely unchanged in this week's AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com national polls with one exception.

Freshman Walk Thru Crystal was a firm No. 1 among the 2-year-old rankings, which showed no changes.

Dashin Brown Streak held steady as a near-unanimous No. 1 among the older horses, but the Top 10 did see one new face with This Candys Awesome rounding out the poll. This Candys Awesome notched her third-straight win in Saturday’s Higheasterjet Handicap (G3) at Ruidoso Downs, adding to her victories this spring in the Decketta Stakes (G3) and Easy Date Handicap (R) at Remington Park.

With 34 trials this Friday and Saturday slated for the Rainbow Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs, the 2-year-old rankings figure to get a major overhaul in the coming weeks. Sunday’s action at Ruidoso includes the trials for the rich Rainbow Derby (G1), which will have an impact on the older-horse rankings in the coming weeks as well.
