Beehive, South Valley Futurity Trials Headline Saturday Program at Laurel Brown

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—MAY 13, 2021—CB Stables’ B The One, an undefeated stakes-winning son of Five Bar Cartel, is one of 44 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 330-yard Beehive Futurity (R) trials at Laurel Brown Racetrack near Salt Lake City.

B The One has earned $44,022 from two starts, and his two wins include a 1-1/4-length victory in the 300-yard, $108,000 Hadley/Giles Futurity at Weber Downs near Ogden, Utah. He set a new track record for 300 yards in Hadley/Giles final. He was clocked in :15.264 seconds, earning a 109 speed index. The previous record of :15.391 was established May 5, 2018 by Jess Send It.

A $17,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the colt drew post 7 and will be ridden by Cesar T. Moreno for trainer Luis H. Gonzalez in the last of five trials.

Eddie and Andrea Jensen’s Mound Valley Eagle, the runner-up to B The One in the Hadley/Giles Futurity, drew the rail post and will be ridden by Jesus Valenzuela for trainer Riley Moosman in the second heat. The son of last year's leading first-crop sire of winners, One Fabulous Eagle, has won one of two starts and has banked $22,450.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the May 29 Beehive Futurity final.

Also on Saturday, 42 juveniles are entered in six 300-yard South Valley Futurity trials.

Merlin Sharp’s Precedentz, a daughter of One Fabulous Eagle and a $13,000 buy at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, is coming off of a fourth-place finish, one length behind winner Love Moonin, in the 300-yard, $11,985 Hadley/Giles Futurity Consolation at Weber Downs on May 1.

The Texas-bred filly drew post 4 and will be ridden by Eric Ayala for trainer Monty Arrossa in the fifth heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the May 29 South Valley Futurity final.
