HOBBS, NM—SEPTEMBER 21, 2017—Champion Imperial Eagle and graded stakes winner Wild Mares Milk are among the 31 sophomores entered in Sunday’s Hobbs America Derby (G3) trials at Zia Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from these four 440-yard trials will meet in the $80,000-added final on October 8.

Imperial Eagle is trained by Tony Sedillo for the Estate of Charles Robinson and Christina Robinson, which purchased the gray son of One Famous Eagle for $48,000 at the 2015 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. Imperial Eagle has earned $1,784,721 from 13 races, and the gelding was last year’s AQHA champion 2-year-old.

Imperial Eagle drew the rail post and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez in the third trial.

Wild Mares Milk races for John and Sue May’s J & SM Inc. of Fort Stockton, Texas. A homebred bay daughter of Desirio trained by Fred Danley, the filly has banked $88,213 from eight outs this season, and her two wins include a neck victory in the April 1, 400-yard West Texas Derby (G3) at Sunland Park.

Wild Mares Milk drew the rail post and will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr. in the fourth heat.
