SUNLAND PARK, NM—MARCH 21, 2017—A total of 84 2-year-olds has been entered in Friday’s 300-yard West Texas Futurity (G2) trials at Sunland Park.

Seventy-four of the juveniles entered in Friday’s trials will be making their career debuts. The lone winner in the trials, Birrell Farms’ Bf Diversion, is the 3-1 morning-line favorite in the seventh of nine heats. A homebred daughter of Winners Version and the homebred Fdd Dynasty mare Bf Divine Dynasty, Bf Diversion began her career with a wire-to-wire, neck victory in a 300-yard maiden-special-weight dash at Sunland on March 3.

Adrian Ramos will ride Bf Diversion on Friday.

Mountain Holme, the runner-up to Bf Diversion in the March 3 maiden race, drew post 10 and will be ridden by Ruben Calderon in the first heat. A gray daughter of Gone To The Mountain trained by Jimmy Guerra Jr. for owner Eduardo J. Lugo, Mountain Holme was a $4,400 purchase at last year’s Texas Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale in Antonio.

Other promising 2-year-olds entered in Friday’s trials include Corona For Milady, a homebred daughter of Corona Cartel and the graded stakes winning Dash For Cash mare My Dashing Lady. A half sister to champions Noconi and Brenda Beautiful, the filly will be ridden by Cody Jensen from the rail post in the fifth trial for owners R.D. Hubbard and Shaun Hubbard and trainer Justin Joiner.

Justin Joiner will also send out Note Worthi, a sorrel daughter of Feature Mr Bojangles racing for R.D. Hubbard and Paul Blanchard, in the seventh trial. Note Worthi’s dam, the winning 8-year-old First Down Dash mare Natalie Dash, is a full sister to two Grade 1 winners, including champion Tempting Dash.

Note Worthi drew post 9 and will be ridden by Cody Jensen.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the April 15, $200,000-est. West Texas Futurity final.
