Pick 6 Carryover, Costa Mesa Handicap Highlight Friday’s Action

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—FEBRUARY 10, 2016— A Pick 6 Carryover of $65,738, the largest of the young season at Los Alamitos, and the running of the $15,000 Costa Mesa Handicap at 350 yards will highlight Friday’s racing program at the Orange County oval.

First post is 7 p.m. With the new money expected to be wagered in the Pick 6 on Friday night, the total pool could be somewhere between $175,000 and $200,000.

The Pick 6 will get underway in the third race of the night, which will feature a full field of 10 Thoroughbreds competing at 4 1/2 furlongs. Approximate post time for the third race is 7:48 p.m.

The Pick 6 sequence will also include an allowance event for Quarter Horses headed by the stakes placed Tango In Cash. The $11,325 allowance event is slated as the fifth leg of the Pick 6 and the seventh race on the card.

The main event of the evening will see 2015 Wild West Futurity winner Zoomin For Spuds taking on Corona Chick Handicap runner-up For Pee Jay in the Costa Mesa in the concluding leg of the Pick 6 and also the evening’s eighth and final race.

Ridden by Cesar De Alba for trainer Bret Vickery, Zoomin For Spuds has finished in the money in nine of his 10 career starts. He’s hit the board in eight consecutive starts including his neck victory in the $125,000 Wild West.
