Jess A Hilbily Bone, Unfettered Rematch Set In Master Salls Handicap at Ruidoso Downs

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 2, 2015—The top two finishers in the $20,000 Bobby Dan Crenshaw – Jess A Hilbily Bone and Unfettered – are set for a rematch in the $30,000 Master Salls Handicap on Sunday at Ruidoso Downs.

There is always free grandstand admission and free parking at Ruidoso Downs. First post time is 1 p.m.

The Bobby Dan Crenshaw was at 1,000 yards and the Master Salls will be contested over 870 yards.

The quarter horse Jess A Hilbily Bone made a late run to get the lead in the Crenshaw and then held off a potent closing charge from the thoroughbred Unfettered. Rockin J Running Horses’ homebred Jess A Hilbily Bone was timed in :53.395 for the diminishing neck win.

Jess A Hilbily Bone has won his latest two starts at Ruidoso Downs. The Tammy Kay Johnson-trained gelding prepared for the Crenshaw with a neck win in an 870-yard allowance race.

The four-year-old gelding by Rock Solid Jess has scored three of his five career wins this year. He also won for a $20,000 claiming price at 870 yards this spring at Remington Park.

Ricardo Aguirre has been up for each of his Ruidoso Downs’ wins and gets the call again with the eighth post position.

Solitaire Stable’s Unfettered was the 3-5 favorite in the Crenshaw after winning the $35,000 Inaugural at SunRay Park at six-and-one-half furlongs as the 4-5 favorite. In the Inaugural, he made a four-wide move on the turn to gain the lead and rolled to the one-and-one-half-length score.

A son of Rockport Harbor, Unfettered has finished on the board in his eight most recent starts with three wins. He also won the $100,000 Bill Thomas Memorial Handicap back in March at Sunland Park.

Trainer Henry Dominguez will have Casey Lambert aboard for the first time when they start from the inside post position.

Tommy Galvez and Tony Sedillo’s Flyin Fish also comes out of the Crenshaw. The seven-year-old gelding held the lead before giving way and finishing third, beaten by one-and-three-quarter lengths.

Flyin Fish won the $30,000 Fine Loom Handicap in his first start and Ruidoso Downs this summer and was second on the $20,000 Tricky Dust Stakes. Each of those races was at 870 yards.

Brayan Velazquez will be up with the second post position
