Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity Trials Draw 188 Two-Year-Olds

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 31, 2015—The fields have been set for this year’s Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity (RG2) trials, which will be run Friday and Saturday at Remington Park.

Eleven 330-yard trials contested by 94 horses will be run each day. Estimated post time for the first trial each day is set for 6:26 p.m. (CDT), with the last trial scheduled to go off at 10:46. The five fastest qualifiers from each set of heats will meet in the $270,000-added Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity final on April 18.

The lone graded stakes placed entry, Cashshae, drew post 4 in Friday’s 11th trial. A homebred Spit Curl Jess filly owned and trained by Randall Read, Cashshae is coming off of a third-place finish in the 300-yard, $410,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G2) on March 21.

Cashshae will be ridden by Larry Payne on Friday.

Arolla The Dice, a winner in his career debut on March 14, drew the rail post in the sixth trial on Friday for her owners, Albert and Sandra Whitmire. The brown daughter of Ivory James prepped for her maiden victory with a 250-yard training-race victory in :13.37 on February 11.

Joe Badilla Jr. will ride Arolla The Dice for trainer Joe Neff. Her seven opponents in the sixth heat include Streakin PR, a son of Corona Cartel who has been gelded since his career debut, a 250-yard maiden victory on March 15. Streakin PR drew post 2 and will be ridden by Cesar Gomez for owner Thomas Scheckel and trainer Kasey Willis.

Other recent maiden winners entered in Friday’s trials include Shakem James, a homebred Ivory James gelding owned by Sylvia Pitman Shaw and Bobby D. Cox and trained by John Buchanan; W.R. Ward’s Maximum Country, a homebred Country Chicks Man gelding trained by Grant Ward; UN Stables’ Mr James Quick, a gelding by Jesse James Jr conditioned by Eddie Lee Willis; and Brian L. Gunder’s My Royal Wagon, a Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt trained by Brian Muse.

Shanondoah, a homebred sorrel daughter of Good Reason SA racing for Jeff Jones and Steve Holt, is one of the 94 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s trials. Trained by Rodney Reed, the filly was a prompt 8-5 favorite in her debut, a 250-yard, $25,600 maiden dash for Oklahoma-breds on March 14.

Shanondoah drew post 5 and will be ridden by Agustin Silva in Saturday’s second heat. Other noteworthy 2-year-olds in Saturday’s trials include recent maiden-race winners Acers Flyer, a Separatist colt owned by Grant Cox and trained by Joe Neff; Desperate Daisy, a daughter of Carters Cartel racing for Brian L. Gunder from the barn of trainer Brian Muse; and Pryme Time, a homebred Teller Cartel gelding owned by Reed Land & Cattle Co. and conditioned by Gerald Reed.
