LOS ALAMITOS, CA— MARCH 4, 2015—Lorena Velazquez Rodriguez’s Rylees Boy, one of the most decorated Quarter Horses currently active in the sport, will headline the main event on Friday at Los Alamitos, an $11,325 allowance at 350 yards.

First post time is 7 p.m. The racing action will also include simulcasting of Quarter Horse races from Remington Park’s first weekend of racing.

To be ridden by Cesar De Alba for trainer Paul Jones, Rylees Boy enters this allowance event with 22 wins from 52 career starts while ranking in the top 25 all-time in earnings. A winner of $1,563,089 in his career, Rylees Boy’s top moments include the 2012 Champion of Champions and the 2013 Los Alamitos Winter Championship. Other big wins in his resume include the Grade 1 Bank of America Championship and Grade 1 Remington Park Championship. The 10-year-old Heza Motor Scooter gelding has twice been named champion aged gelding.

Rylees Boy is aiming for his first victory win the Winter Championship on February 17, 2013. The Gary Nesbitt-bred runner has posted several big efforts since his last win, including a second place finish in the Champion of Champions in December of 2013 and top four efforts in both the Grade 1 Go Man Go Handicap and Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Championship also in that year.

The field of older horses joining Rylees Boy in this race will include stakes winner Sugarbear Sax Man for owner Cesar Muniz and trainer Jose Flores and seven-time career winner Stel Heights owned by Emiliano Quinonez and Lorenzo Ruiz.

Alvin Cross Child’s Ric Oh Shay will also be in action in this event and he’s been in very good form. The gelding by Feature Mr Jess beat $30,000 claimers in his last outing. Checkspeed, winner of the 2012 Wild West Futurity, and Henoshersecret will complete the field.

Los Alamitos will simulcast races from the opening weekend of the Remington Park Quarter Horse racing season, which kicks off on Friday night. Los Alamitos will simulcast Remington Park’s 11th and 12th race on Friday and several of the trials to the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity on Saturday night. The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $430,000 Oklahoma Futurity final on March 21.

First year sires Bodacious Dash, Capo De Capi, Dominyun, Favorite Cartel, Freighttrain B, Good Reason SA, Louisiana Senator, Ragazzo and The Louisiana Cartel all have starters in these trials.
