Queen Catherine Draws Rail Post for John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge

CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 8, 2015—Queen Catherine, a graded stakes winning daughter of freshman sire Freighttrain B and the fastest qualifier, drew the rail post for the 350-yard, $32,500-added John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge, one of three regional Challenge finals to be run at Will Rogers Downs on Saturday.

Queen Catherine is trained by Kasey Willis for owner Hay Racing. The filly has earned $45,660 from seven outs, and her three wins include a half-length victory in the August 1, $75,000 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3) at Ruidoso Downs.

Queen Catherine drew the rail post and will be ridden by Cesar Gomez.

Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge

Also on Saturday, fastest qualifier Rare Scheme is the 5-2 morning-line favorite for the 400-yard, $32,500-added Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge.

A homebred son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon trained by Hipolito Michel-Valverde for owners Richard and Genevieve Herrman, Rare Scheme is coming off of a neck victory in his trial on September 27. The colt ran third, a half of a length behind winner BH Lisas Boy, in the June 6 Adequan Arapahoe Derby Challenge at Arapahoe Park.

Rare Scheme drew post 9 and will be ridden by Daniel Torres.

Zoetis Will Rogers Distance Challenge

Kharlottie Grace Urschel’s CR Tuckernuck, a stakes winner during the Ruidoso Downs meet, is one of nine distance specialists entered in Saturday’s 870-yard, $30,000 Zoetis Will Rogers Distance Challenge.

A 4-year-old Jet Black Patriot gelding trained by Stacey Capps, CR Tuckernuck drew post 9 and is the 5-2 morning-line choice. The gelding is coming off of a wire-to-wire, 2 3/4-length victory in the 870-yard, $20,000 Bill Reed Memorial Stakes at Ruidoso Downs on September 5.
