GILLETTE, WY–MAY 23, 2026– Flybyby surged to victory in the $38,000 Wyoming Oaks on Saturday at Energy Downs 307 Horse Racing, earning her fourth career win with a determined performance under jockey Julian Zavala.
The daughter of champion sire Five Bar Cartel covered the 350 yards in :17.544 seconds while earning a 102 speed index.
Bred by Arkofa Farm, Flybyby is owned and trained by Adrian Zavala. The filly was originally an $8,000 repurchase at the LQHBA Yearling Sale before later selling for $18,500 at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.
She is out of the winning Apollitical Jess mare Fly By You, a half-sister to stakes winners College Scandal ($143,641) and Lovely Cuvee ($50,384). The female family also includes stakes winner Fovee ($380,385) and AQHA Dam of Distinction Zipp Zoro ($102,240).
The Wyoming Oaks victory boosted Flybyby’s record to 11 starts with four wins, four seconds, and one third while increasing her earnings total to $60,659 after collecting the $19,000 winner’s share of the purse.
Prior to the Oaks, she captured the Gary & Sharilyn Blattner Memorial Derby and previously finished second in the Bitterroot Futurity(G3) and third in the Pocatello Downs Spring Classic Futurity.
Jess A Dash Of Class finished second under Jose Olivo for owner Lori Nebeker and trainer Kylie Valenzuela.
The filly, bred by Ron and Laurie Moosman, is sired by Jess Paint Me and out of the Winners Version mare Steffiesclassic Dash, a stakes-placed producer. She completed the distance in :17.758 seconds with a 94 speed index.
Now with a career record of 16-8-3-2 and earnings of $212,829, Jess A Dash Of Class has already compiled an impressive résumé that includes victories in the KC Carden Accredited Wyoming Bred Derby, Wyoming Bred Derby, and WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity.
Sage Runner, ridden by Jacob Cardenas, finished another head back in third for owner Jose Castaneda and trainer Jose Chavez.
The mare was bred by Mary & Shalia Powers and is by One Valiant Hero out of the Tac It Like A Man mare Sorchae. The female family traces back to champions Significant Speed ($517,605) and Significant Heart ($257,292), as well as AQHA Dam of Distinction Dash Master Miss ($249,430).
Sage Runner stopped the timer in :17.769 seconds while also earning a 94 speed index. Sage Runner now owns a career mark of 24-4-5-4 with earnings of $58,780.
JKH Almost A Dynasty finished fourth and was followed by UD Cholula, Milagro Lady, Eyesa Special Rogue, Jess Pure Sass, A Dash Of Steffie, and One Fine Fancy.
