Kooler Wagon Gets First Career Stakes Win In Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Championship

AURORA, CO—OCTOBER 13, 2021—Alma Olivas' Kooler Wagon got her first career stakes win today when she ran down post time favorite Jess Un Sies Mas to win the $15,500 Rocky Mountain QH Championship by half-a-length at Arapahoe Park.

Kooler Wagon finished best from the outside post under jockey Jonathan Dominguez, completing the 400 yard task in :19.754 seconds, a 101 speed index with a 12 mph tailwind. It was the fifth win in 11 starts for the daughter of champion sire Desirio. Trainer Uriel Delgado sent out the 4-year-old Colorado-bred from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Beaus Wagon.

The $9,300 winner's purse boosted her earnings record to $36,888. Bred by Thomas Bradbury and Vaughn Cook, Kooler Wagon entered the race off an Allowance win at Arapahoe on September 15th. Last season she was a finalist in the Lucille Rowe Derby.

Coming off a win in the Dolls Prodigy Stakes on September 2nd, runner-up Jess Un Seis Mas earned $3,100 for second. Trainer Jose Barron named jockey Jesus Olivas to ride the 5-year-old Apollitical Jess gelding for owner-breeder Hugo Barron Sierra. Out of the Tres Seis mare Seis Star Glitter, Jess Un Sies Mas has earned $95,180.

Tainted Halo, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Jess Being Valiant, finished 1-˝ lengths back to earn $1,550 for third. Howie Chavers, Jr. conditions the 4-year-old for owner-breeder Jean Chavers. Out of the Shazoom mare Make Money Zoomin, Tainted Halo was ridden by jockey Daniel Valles. She has earned $26,621 off 13 career starts.

Up To Hit and La Blue Perry completed the field. Lotas First and Seis Coronas In were both scratched.

Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colorado, began its 32-day live race meet on August 11. Friday (Aug 13) 7-race race card will include two trials (Race 1 and 2) for the Lucille Rowe Derby for accredited Colorado-bred 3-year-olds. First post is noon (MDT).
