ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 20, 2020—In a dominating performance Cavenaugh Quarter Horses, LLC's Woodys Gold got his first futurity win in the $387,174 New Mexico State Fair QH Futurity(RG3) Sunday afternoon at The Downs at Albuquerque.

The $10,000 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred QH Yearling Sale graduate was second in two futurities at Ruidoso Downs over the summer.

Ridden by jockey Francisco Caldreon, the son of multiple stakes sire Woodbridge recovered from a rocked start to roll to a 1-¼ length win while completing the 400 yards in :19.649 seconds, a 90 speed index.

Trainer Clinton Crawford saddled Woodys Gold who was also second in the Zia QH Futurity(RG1) and the Mountain Top NM Bred Futurity(RG2) over the summer. It was third win in six starts this season for the sorrel gelding and the $187,779 winner's purse boosted his bank account total to $325,282.

Bred by MJ Farms, Woodys Gold is out of the Thoroughbred mare All About Gold by Gold Case.

Fanncee, another homebred racing for MJ Farms picked up $75,112 for second.

Wesley Giles conditions the Big Daddy Cartel filly out of the champion daughter of Jesse James Jr, Astica. Alan Hernandez was riding.

David Vasquez' Winner Takes It All finished a neck back to earn $45,067 for third. Trainer Sergio Ibarra named jockey Alonso Rivera to ride the Winners Version colt out of A Scootin Princess by Heza Motor Scooter. J&H and A&D Erickson is the breeder.

Western Sandman, Your Easy Jess, Celerity Baby, Rcj Major Cartel, Cartel Cambria, Hes A Major Chick and Devils Cut completed the field.
