Hadley Racing and C3 Ranch Win Rocky Mountain Regional Chariot Racing Championships

Hadley Racing and C3 Ranch Win Rocky Mountain Regional Chariot Racing Championships

OGDEN, UT—FEBRUARY 23, 2020—With the regular season of American Chariot Racing under wraps for the 2019-2020 season, chariot teams competed in the two-day regional championship event at Golden Spike Arena in Ogden over the weekend. The season concludes with World Championships in March.

Posting the fastest combined time in the two-day event, Hadley Racing and C3 Ranch were the first division winners of the Rocky Mountain Regional Championships. The team ran 22.24 on Saturday and retuned to run 22.13 on Sunday.

PF Flyair is a 10-year-old gelding by Dashair, out of Pretty N Famous, by Pretty Boy Perry. The multiple stakes winner was bred in Utah by Tony Greaves and Tim Oliver. Pf Flyair earned $85,950 in 17 starts, including victories in the Bitterroot Derby at Les Bois and the Blaine Schvaneveldt Handicap at Los Alamitos.

Front and Center was bred in California by Ed Allred, by Walk Thru Fire and out of the Separatist mare Katie Katella. The 9-year-old gelding won seven of his 32 career starts, all at Los Alamitos and earned $90,619. Front and Center won the First Down Dash Handicap in 2015 and was fifth in the Spencer Childers California Breeders Championship (RG1) in 2016.

Gibbs Racing took the honors as the second division winners at the regional championships with times of 22.44 on the first day and 22.68 on day two.

Tori Gibbs is the driver and trainer of the Gibbs Racing team of Alma the Younger and LS Little Sam.

Alma the Younger is a 7-year-old gelding by Attila’s Storm, out of JC A Special Spirit, by Special Leader. He was bred in Utah by Magdalene Cummings. His racing career included 29 starts in the Intermountain region with three wins and earnings of over $22,000.

LS Little Sam is a stakes winning son of Cashin Man, bred in Wyoming by Shur-Bet Stables, out of the Special Effort mare A Special Wonder. The 10-year-old gelding earned $30,801 in 27 starts and seven wins, including the Wyoming Bred Futurity at Sweetwater Downs in 2012.

In the third division, Gary and Cutter took home the regional championship title with two wins and times of 22.89 and 22.85.

SMS Boogie Nanu spent most of his career at Los Alamitos, where he started in several stakes, including the Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1) in 2015. He was bred in Oregon by Richard Carver, by Brookstone Bay and out of Catch You Later, by Raise a Secret. The 8-year-old gelding earned over $25,000 in 26 lifetime starts.

Honey Badger is a 9-year-old FDD Dynasty gelding. He was bred in California by Cody Joiner, out of the Corona Cartel mare Corona Mas Fina. He earned $18,000 in 23 starts and two wins, and raced at Los Alamitos, Remington and at several Intermountain tracks.

The American Chariot Racing World Championships will be held March 14, 15, 21 and 22 at the Golden Spike Event Center in Ogden, Utah, also home of the Weber Downs Quarter Horse race meet this spring.
