Unrestrained Top Qualifier in AQRA President's Open Fall Derby Trials

PHOENIX, AZ—OCTOBER 14, 2019—Unrestrained, a multiple stakes winning son of champion sire Kiddy Up, dominated the first of two trials on Monday at Turf Paradise, for the AQRA President's Open Fall Derby, by defeating Moonflash Deluxe by one-length.

Under jockey Joseph Belloc, Jr., the sorrel gelding posted the top qualifying mark of :17.427 seconds, equaling a 105 speed index for 350 yards. Owned-and-trained by Rigoberto Guillen Unrestrained has won five of seven starts this season.

Bred in California by Edward C. Allred, from the Check Him Out mare Thinking Out Loud, Unrestrained has already won the AQRA President's Open Spring Derby at Turf Paradise and the Animas Stakes at SunRay Park this season.

Stakes winner Stel A Secret defeated One Famous Icon by a neck in the second trial to get the third fastest clocking of :17.642 seconds, a 98 speed index. Aaron Belloc had the riding call aboard the California-bred daughter of Stel Corona.

Guillermo Morales conditions the sorrel filly for owner Ruben Jimenez. E.J. and Mark C. Thompson bred last year's AQRA President's Fall Futurity winner from the Check Him Out mare Secret Forest. Stel A Secret has earned $25,264 form (9) 2-1-0 record.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Turf Paradise on Sunday, November 3rd to vie for the winner's share of a $10,500-added purse.
