ALBUQUERQUE, NM—AUGUST 18, 2019—Blas Duran Castillo’s Putinical earned his second win of the meet, as the 5-year-old son of 2010 world champion Apollitical Jess scored a half-length victory in Sunday’s $20,000 allowance-optional claiming Quarter Horse feature at Albuquerque Downs.

Ridden by Edgar Martinez for trainer Arnoldo Carrillo, Putinical went 350 yards in :17.068. The Oklahoma-bred gelding earned $12,000 from his seventh win in 21 starts.

Putinical was coming off of a half-length win on a sloppy and sealed track in a 400-yard, $26,200 open-condition allowance race at Albuquerque Downs. His season record includes a third-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Rarin, in the 350-yard, $50,000 Higheasterjet Handicap (G2) at Ruidoso Downs on June 29.

The 3-5 favorite, Putinical returned a $3.20 win mutuel. Strykr Force finished second and was ollowed by Only Business, Rock Hauler, Highest Return, Redneck Ryan, Queen Of The Kartel, and Apolitical Mess.
