GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 11, 2017—She Eat Fire, a half-sister to 2017 Texas Classic Derby(G1) winner Apolltical Chad, picked up her third consecutive win by defeating Jess Jumpn Beau by three-quarters in the $45,979 Texas Classic Juvenile Invitational Saturday at Lone Star Park.
Ridden by AQHA Racing champion jockey Ricky Ramirez She Eat Fire completed the 400 yards in :20.092 seconds over the fast track into an 11 mph crosswind.
"It was a perfect trip. She got away good. She’s a good filly and I know she likes to run up and down the race track," Ramirez said following the race. "I wait on her to get her stride and when she gets it she takes off and runs them down."
"I think what helped her was her three weeks off," Wood said. "She had a rough time out there in Ruidoso because we ran her hard, so we brought her down here and ran her in trials then gave her the three weeks off and she performed awesome today."
Bred in Oklahoma by William Smith, from the Shazoom mare Fast Prize Tracy, She Eat Fire used the $20,000 Invitational winners' purse to boost her bankroll to $88,121.
"She did great. She’s a small filly, but she has a lot of heart. We’re a great team. They do a good job on all the horses," Paragon Farms owner Tom Lipar said following the win.
Jess Jumpn Beau, 11th fastest qualifier in the October 21 trials, earned $13,794 for finishing second. Saul Ramirez, Jr. trains the Apollitical Jess filly for owner/breeder Francisco J. Garza. Eddie Sanchez had the riding call aboard the filly out of Jumpn Beau Chick by Jumpn Chick.
Aqua Girl, a royally bred daughter of Corona Cartel from the First Down Dash mare Aquafina, finished a neck back in third-place for owner Mike Vaughn. Eddie D. Willis saddled the bay filly with Juan Francisco Garcia, Jr. riding. Bred in Utah by McColee Land & Livestock, Aqua Girl earned $6,897 for her effort.
U R My Queen, T Velocity, Nymeria, Howey Winmor, Hierarchy and Look One Time completed the field. Mighty Pants was scratched.
