Jerrys Scooter Wins BHS Quarter Horse Futurity After DQ, Swingin Brew Takes Dan Lockie Derby

MILES CITY, MT—MAY 22, 2016—Jerrys Scooter was moved to first in the $18,705 BHS Quarter Horse Futurity at Miles City after Eyesa Special Harper was disqualified for interference and placed sixth. Fastest qualifier Musical Jess moved to second and Ravenshaert was placed third.

Eyesa Special Harper, under jockey Efren Prado, broke inward at the start then bumped and cut off foes while finishing the race a neck in front of Jerrys Scooter.

Moved to first place, Jerrys Scooter is a Dashair colt out of Wabbit On A High by On A High. he races for owner/breeder Marlene Young and trainer Paul Greene. Rick Oliver had the riding call. Co-bred by Gerald Heinrich, Jerrys Scooter earned $9,352 for the effort and has a 2-for-2 record.

Fastest qualifier Musical Jess was forced to settle for second place. Owned-and-bred by Ralph Young, the Jess My Moon colt is conditioned by David Greene and ridden by Juan Ramirez. Out of the Apollo (TB) mare Jungle Song, Musical Jess earned $4,302.

Paul Greene also saddled third place finisher Ravensheart for owner/breeder Ann Hansen. Co-bred by John Hansen, Ravenhart is a black filly by Justheartofawarrior from the Stoli mare Holly Ali. She picked up $2,431 for the effort.

Completing the official order of finish were Coronas Favorite, Runnin Bear Nay Kid and Eyesa Special Shadow. Lucecita was scratched.

Dan Lockie Quarter Horse Derby

Best from the gate today, Swingin Brew went wire-to-wire to defeate My Friend Cindy by half-a-length Sunday afternoon in the $14,710 Dan Lockie Quarter Horse Derby (not black type) at Miles City. Fastest qualifier My Tuff Moon finished a neck back in third.

Ridden by jockey Rick Oliver, Swingin Brew completed the 350 yards in :17.795 seconds, a 102-speed index, to pickup the winner's purse of $7,355. Ronald Stephens conditions the winner for owner/breeder S Bar S.

A 3-year-old daughter of Swingin Jess, Swingin Brew has compiled a (6) 2-2-0 record and earned $10,145. Bred in Texas, she is from the Stoli mare Stolin Brew.

Also second to Swingin Brew in the May 8th trials, My Friend Cindy earned $3,383 for her effort today. Dale Crooked Arm conditions the Come On Boots filly for owner Vance Crooked Arm. Benjamin Villegas bred the sorrel filly in New Mexico from the First N Six mare Sweet Coral Beauty.

Winner of the BHS Quarter Horse Futurity last year, My Tuff Moon picked up $1,912 for his third place effort today. David Greene conditions the homebred son of Jess My Moon for owner/ breeder Ralph Young. Out of the Chicks Beduino mare Furious Chick, My Tuff Moon has compiled a (5) 3-0-1 record and earned $10,292. Juan Ramirez was up.

Barley A Secret, Mags Rambling Moon, Im Pink and Katys Rocketrambler completed the field. Cayenne Chic was scratched.
