Jeffs Knightmare Fastest In Schooling Races at Retama Friday
Training races for the new crop of two-year-olds are getting underway at racetracks across the Southwest in anticipation of the new season to kickoff on March 1 for the foals of 2014.

Jeffs Knightmare Fastest In Schooling Races at Retama Friday

SELMA, TX—FEBRUARY 5, 2016—Jeffs Knightmare, a colt by the Mr Jess Perry son AB Knight, posted the fastest time from nine schooling races conducted at 250 yards on Friday at Retama Park.

Owned by Jeff Caron and Paul Quintanilla, the sorrel colt completed the 250-yard task in :13.86 seconds over a fast track to win Race 4. Jeffs Knightmare is from the unraced Behold A Beduino mare Ebonys Child. That G2-placed multiple stakes sire Mr Ottyes is in the fourth dam.

One Sexy MVP, a $2,800 LQHBA summer sale graduate, finished second to Jeffs Knightmare while recording the second fastest time of :13.94. Julio Torres owns the Dashin MVP filly out Special Time Too, by Special Effort. One Sexy MVP is a half-sister to stakes-placed I Special Too.

Jorge Haddad's homebred Mazzimo won Race 1 and recorded the third fastest time of :13.97 seconds. The royally son of leading second crop sire The Louisiana Cartel is out of G1-placed and multiple G1 producer Las Alamitos, by First Down Dash. She is the dam of Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Ragazzo and Sunland Park Winter Futurity(G2) winner Giorgino.

Carters Edge, an $8,000 Heritage Place September yearling graduate, posted the fourth fastest clocking of :14.09 seconds while winning Race 8 for owner Filimon Saucedo. The son of champion and Grade 1 sire Carters Cartel is out of the Grade 2 winner Da Edge, by Separatist. This is the family of 2015 World Champion Heza Dash Fire, 2015 Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding Ima Fearless Hero and Champions Deelish, Fredericksburg and Fredaville.
