Fast N Famous Eagle Posts Top Mark in Governors Stakes Trials

SHELBYVILLE, IN—OCTOBER 8, 2015—Coming off a sixth-place finish in the $163,590 QHRAI SSA Futurity on September 12th, Fast N Famous Eagle posted a half-length victory in the last of three trials for the Governor's Stakes Thursday afternoon at Indiana Grand Race Course. His time of :17.854 into a 2 mph headwind were the top qualifying mark from the 25 two-year-olds who competed.

The 10 fastest will return to the Indiana racetrack on Saturday, October 24 to vie for the winner's share of the $100,000-added purse going 350 yards.

Joe M. Davis owns-and-trains Fast N Famous Eagle, a Texas-bred son of leading sire One Famous Eagle from the Heza Fast Man mare One Fast Kisser. Rolando Pina had the riding assignment aboard the Oscar Lozano-bred colt.

Davis also owns-and-trains sixth fastest qualifier The Louisiana Jewel. Also ridden by Pina, the bay filly took a quick lead in the second trial and held to win by half-a-length. It was the first win three starts for the lightly raced daughter of leading first crop sire The Louisiana Cartel. Jorge Haddad bred the filly in Texas from the Streakin La Jolla mare La Jolla Rocket. She completed the 350 yards in :17.971 seconds.

Beyondivory posted the second fastest time of :17.907 seconds with a neck win over Bottom Dollar in the first trial. Trainer Randy Smith saddled the two-time winner for owner/breeder Kris Locklear. The daughter of multiple stakes sire Ivory James is out of the graded stakes winning Game Patriot mare Beyondthegame. Jockey Berkley Packer was aboard for the qualifying ride.
