EVANSTON, WY—AUGUST 2, 2015—Jockey Justin Vanderwoude rode fastest qualifier Cantcatchthisflight to a half-length win over Gg The Blurr in the $23,900 Gary Waite Maiden Stakes (not black-type) at Wyoming Downs Sunday afternoon. Jess Loving You finished a nose back third.
Cantcatchthisflight, a 3-year-old daughter of This Flights For You, covered the 330 yards in :16.737 seconds to earn a 106 speed index. The $11,233 winner's purse boosted her career total to $33,209.
Tyler Gibbs conditions the Oklahoma-bred filly out of Bye Bye Betty, by Dashin Bye, for owner Rance Savage. The Gene Cox-bred runner's record stands as (12) 3-2-3.
Gg The Blurr races for owner/breeder Goodrich Quarter Horses and is trained by Gary N. Goodrich. Daniel Carrillo rode the Winners Version 4-year-old out of Cassy Flo, by Sir Cashanova. He earned $4,302 for the effort.
Jess Loving You is a Swinging Jess filly owned by Jere Brinkerhoff and Jesus Canales. Brinkerhoff also handles training duties for the Utah-bred out of Luv You Always, by Royal Always. Ridden by Canales she earned $2,629.
Dinero Dobie, Mister Wood, Cir Dial It Perfect, Zefee, Shadow Secret and Phantastik completed the field. Cash N Perry was scratched.
In other stakes action at Wyoming Downs Sunday afternoon Shootin Sixes won the $9,300 Wyoming Downs 970 Handicap (not black-type). Under jockey Rene Lopez, Shootin Sixes took and early lead and won easily by three lengths to pickup the winner's purse of $5,580.
