OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 28, 2015—The initial Grade 1 stakes race of the Remington Park season went to Dashin Brown Streak as he came in from his Louisiana base to take the $101,120 Leo Stakes. The 5-year-old gelding was triumphant in easy fashion, winning by a half-length after holding a wide-open lead midway through the 400 yards.
Owned by the Keller, Texas partnership of the Estate of C.W. Navarre and Melvin Hatley, Dashin Brown Streak is trained by John Brasseaux and was ridden by a confident G.R. Carter.
“He broke phenomenal,” Carter explained from the winner’s circle. “When I called on him he just really responded powerfully. I think I was probably two lengths in front. The last half of the race I just let him coast. He actually pricked his ears and kind of let up on me but he had the race well in hand and was very impressive.”
The Leo Stakes was the fourth consecutive win for Dashin Brown Streak who has not lost in since beginning the streak in September 2014 at Will Rogers Downs. The Leo Stakes is the second straight stakes triumph in the win streak for Dashin Brown Streak who won the Sam’s Town Stakes at Evangeline Downs, in Louisiana in December.
Dashin Brown Streak held off Testing The Ice who settled for second and Wagon Tales, the 8-5 wagering favorite, who ran third. Dashin Brown Streak crossed the finish in :19.636 seconds over a fast track.
