FREDERICKSBURG, TX–JULY 19, 2025– Kiss My Hat delivered a commanding performance Saturday afternoon at the Gillespie County Fairground in the $34,000 G.C.F.A. Dutchman Stakes with authority.

The 4-year-old gelding covered the 350 yards in 17.574 seconds, earning a 96 speed index while facing a 12 mph headwind. The win marked his first career stakes victory, which came by daylight—1 3/4 lengths clear of the field—under jockey Nestor Duran.

Trained by Cristian Alcala and campaigned by Alcala Ranch LLC, Kiss My Hat has matured into a serious contender this season. He broke his maiden in his first out of the season earlier in the year at Remington Park and has since tested stakes company with competitive results.

In his last start, Kiss My Hat was a finalist in the King William Stakes (G3), and prior to that, he ran third in the Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes (G2). With Saturday’s $20,400 payday, his career earnings now total $45,304, and the victory improved his record to two wins from nine starts.

Bred in Oklahoma by Jovetta Meredith, Kiss My Hat is a son of Kiss My Hocks and out of the FDD Dynasty mare Sr Fly Baby. Offered at the 2025 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, he was a $27,000 repurchase.

One Fine Wine made a strong account of himself while finishing second. The three-year-old gelding broke alertly and stayed in the thick of the race throughout, holding off challengers to secure the runner-up spot in 17.854 seconds.

Alejandro Ochoa had the riding call for trainer Martin Rodriguez and owner Victor Villarreal. One Fine Wine, bred in Texas by Brandon Edwards, is by Hawkeye out of Shezawinesnob, by Heza Fast Dash. He was purchased for $16,000 at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale and continues to build a solid résumé, now with $37,549 in the bank.

Omg Its Jess closed gamely to finish third, just a nose behind One Fine Wine at the wire. The 5-year-old son of Good Reason SA was up in time to grab the show position in 17.865 seconds. Froylan Ramirez rode for trainer Miguel Castillo and owner Texas Redd Equine Holdings, LLC.

Bred in California by John Andreini, Omg Its Jess is out of Jess A Valiant Chick, by Valiant Hero. A $22,000 purchase at the 2021 Ruidoso Yearling Sale, he picked up $3,400 for his effort and has now banked $45,020.

The remaining order of finish included Jess Pretty N Black in fourth, followed by Vodka From Texas in fifth. Dupontes Courage checked in sixth, and Lgm Flirting Hero rounded out the field in seventh.
