In only his fourth year of training, Umberto Belloc has yet to send out a stakes winner but will send out two qualifiers in the All American Futurity (G1), including JM Miracle, who won the 12th trial on Thursday. Going into the trials, Belloc had sent out the winners of seven races from 87 starters, who have earned $213,062.

G.R. Carter Jr. is the all-time-everything rider in American Quarter Horse racing. The 10-time AQHA champion jockey is the all-time leader by money, having ridden the earners of more than $65.8 million, and by wins, having gone into the trials with scores aboard 3,663 winners from 23,141 starts. Carter has won the All American Futurity (G1) twice, on Falling In Loveagain in 1998 and on world champion Stolis Winner in 2008. On the first day of trials, Carter won seven of the 14 heats and was aboard four of the five finalists qualified on Thursday afternoon.

Javier and Elsa Marquez’s J & M Racing & Farm at Monahans, Texas, purchased JM Miracle (then named Volcom Express) for $40,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. J & M also races the PYC Paint Your Wagon colt JM Famous Master ($55,642), who finished in a dead heat for third in this year’s West Texas Futurity (G2) and ninth in the Ruidoso Futurity (G1).

Along with Bodacious Eagle, JM Miracle is one of only two horses to qualify for all three of the Grade 1 futurities at Ruidoso Downs this summer. Competing solely in the trials and finals, JM Miracle won each of his trials and finished second in the Ruidoso Futurity and eighth after being bumped at the break in the Rainbow. The gelding won the 12th heat by half a length on the first day of trials for the All American.

JM Miracle is one of 47 winners and the earners of more than $1.37 million from 80 starters by Volcom, a Grade 1-winning earner of $430,433. An 11-year-old son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash, Volcom is one of 12 winners from 15 starters out of the winning Runaway Winner mare Runaway Vike ($8,898), who has produced the earners of more than $757,000. Volcom is a full brother to three stakes-placed runners: Dashing Vike ($142,432), JA Call Collect ($47,868) and Hi Tori ($40,326). Volcom’s second dam is Miss Racy Vike, who has produced the earners of more than $1.25 million. Volcom is the sire of three stakes winners and the Grade 1-placed Lethal Volt ($266,302), who finished fifth in Ochoa’s All American Futurity (G1).

JM Miracle is one of six winners and the earners of more than $294,000 from eight starters out of Lethal Volt’s half-sister Lethal Delight. The half-sibling’s second dam is the Tolltac mare Lethal Weapon, who has produced the earners of more than $630,000. A $453,701-earning daughter of Dean Miracle who scored in the Shue Fly Stakes (RG1) at Sunland Park and placed in five stakes, including twice in Grade 1 events, Lethal Delight is the dam of JM Miracle’s stakes-winning full brother Lethal Express ($28,604), who on June 8 won the Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational (R); stakes-placed full sister Volcoms Delight ($27,064) and stakes-placed half-brother Lethal Cartel ($22,056, by Corona Cartel).

PK Thomas raced and owns Volcom. Thomas manages his family’s Circle T Ranch at Weatherford, Texas, and since 1982 has bred seven stakes winners, 54 other winners and the earners of more than $2 million from 110 starters, including stakes winners Lethal Bay ($149,095, by Strawfly Special out of Lethal Weapon) and The Hurricane ($91,037, by Rare Form).
