Each of the gelding’s starts have been in trials to futurities or derbies at Ruidoso Downs, where he never has finished off the board.

The Magic Dash is bred by Julianna Hawn Holt of Blanco, Texas. Since breeding the first of her 171 named American Quarter Horses in 1974, Holt has bred 122 starters, including five stakes winners, 70 other winners and the earners of more than $3.84 million.

The Magic Dash is by all-time leading sire First Down Dash, who has sired the earners of more than $79.98 million, 36 champions, 205 other stakes winners and 1,024 other winners.

The Magic Dash is out of the stakes-winning Mr Eye Opener mare Thewayoutwantmetoo ($327,953), who in the 2004 Rainbow Futurity (G1) defeated eventual champions Hardly Hateful and DM Shicago, who won that season’s All American Futurity (G1). Her foals include the Valiant Hero filly Belle Helene, the Ruidoso Futurity (G1) runner up who won her (non-qualifying) trial for the All American Futurity (G1) two days before The Magic Dash qualified for the Derby.
