A perennial leading trainer at tracks in Texas, Kearl has been training American Quarter Horses since 1996. In that time, he has saddled 4,121 starters who have won 633 Quarter Horse races and have earned more than $6.7 million. Last year, Kearl conditioned his first Grade 1 winner when he sent out Valiant Lil Lady scored in the Texas Classic Futurity (G1).

Cody Jensen rode Houdini to win this year’s Rainbow Derby, Lovethewayyoulie to win the Heritage Place Futurity (G1) and Kiss My Hocks to win the Ruidoso Futurity (G1). The AQHA Champion Jockey in 2013, when he rode the earners of $3,154,543, Jensen in his career has ridden 1,477 winners and the earners of more than $30.78 million from 8,761 mounts. Jensen won the 2009 All American Derby on champion Inseperable and qualified Houdini and Down Side Magician to this year’s running. Jensen also rode back-to-back winners in the All American Futurity (G1), Teller Cartel and No Secrets Here in 2005-06.

Wagon Tales won the fourth trial in :21.021, defeating qualifiers Skuze Pleeze by a length and Fatal Policy another 1 1/ 2 lengths behind in third. Wagon Tales now has won three of five races, including the April 21 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Juvenile Stakes (R), and has earned $165,061. Wagon Tale in the trials was making his first start since finishing third in the June 1 Heritage Place Futurity (G1).

Wagon Tales is one of two winners, both of stakes, from five starters bred by Robert and Jill Mixer’s The Mixer Ranch at Edmond, Oklahoma. The other stakes winner is Second Painted Sign ($100,604), a son of PYC Paint Your Wagon out of Wagon Tales’ second dam, the Vital Sign mare Stylish Sign ($28,306).

Wagon Tales is one of 40 stakes winners, 201 other winners and the earners of more than $10.79 million from four crops raced by PYC Paint Your Wagon. A 10-year-old son of Corona Cartel, Pyc Paint Your Wagon is out of Dashin Follies, a daughter of Strawfly Special out of the world champion First Down Dash mare Dashing Folly. Though herself a maiden, Dashin Follies has produced the earners of more than $1.46 million, including stakes winner Mi Angela by Jet Black Patriot and PYC Paint Your Wagon’s stakes-placed full brother Ivory James ($220,026), who has sired the earners of more than $4 million.

Wagon Tales is the first winner from two starters out of the winning Shazoom mare Signs Zoomer ($30,044), a half sister to Grade 1 winner First Painted Sign ($284,911) and stakes winner Second Painted Sign ($100,604), both by PYC Paint Your Wagon.
