Jess Fire Me, a finalist in the $982,050 Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1) Sunday night at Los Alamitos Racecourse, was the Day 2 sale-topper at the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–NOVEMBER 4, 2022–Jess Fire Me, a Grade 1-placed son of Walk Thru Fire who set to compete in the $982,050 Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1) Sunday night at Los Alamitos Racecourse, was the sale-topper on Day 2 of the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City.

“Day 2 finished with a $17,942 average on horses sold representing a 19% increase over the same day last year,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said last Friday. “The demand and competition for quality was very strong today and the results prove it.  The clearance rate was 91% for today’s session and is 87% through the second day.”

Through two Quarter Horse sessions 431 head have sold for gross receipts of $7,090,400 The two-day average of $16,451 is a 9% increase over $15,125 in 2021. The median for two-days is $8,500.

Reliance Ranches, LLC paid $360,000 for Hip 335 Jess Fire Me from the Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent consignments. Second in the 2021 Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) Jess Fire me is out of the AQHA Dam of Distinction Jess Sass Me by Mr Jess Perry. The brown colt is a brother to champion Jess Walking Thru and nine other black type runners.

Jess Fire Me, trained by Christopher O’Dell finished second in the October 16 Super Derby trials to post the fifth fastest qualifying time. The Super Derby final will runback Sunday night at Race 10 with a 9:04 pm (PST) estimated post.

Cosmopolitanne, a daughter of leading sire Corona Carte in-foal to Favorite Carte was the second high-seller in Saturday’s session for $200,000.  Grant Farms LLC purchased the 4-year-old mare from Bobby D. Cox. Out of the stakes-place Mr Eye Opener mare Eye Popping, Cosmopolitanne is a half-sister to All American Derby(G1) winner Instygator, Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Shott Gun and stakes winner Maybellina.

Cox also consigned the third high-seller on Saturday, Hip 531 Celebriti, a 5-year-old daughter of Corona Cartel who brought a final bid of $130,000 from RJ Ranch LLC.  The half-sister to champion Wahoo sold in-foal to Favorite Cartel.

Reliance Ranches, LLC is the leading buyer through two days with five purchases totaling $539,800. Rachuan Suarez MVZ signed the ticket for 11 head for $242,000 while Rancho El Cabresto, Inc. paid $235,00 for three head.

Bobby D. Cox is the leading consignor or agent through two days with 22 head bring gross receipts of $1,155,000. Lazy E Ranch, LLC sold 18 head for $672,500 and Cavenaugh Quarter Horses, LLC had eight head bring $324,700.

Favorite Cartel was the leading covering sire (by average with, with two or more sold) with three in-foal mares averaging $123,333. Uncle D had two mares in-foal average $31,750 and Kiss My Hocks sold two in-foal mares for a $31,250 average.

Session 4, the final session offering Hips 620 thru 906, will start promptly 10 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 5th), consisting of mixed horses. A second breeding to champion Tarzinito will be sold to benefit the Disabled Jockeys Fund prior to the start of the final session.
