WAYNE, OK—OCTOBER 5, 2021—Don and Fran Cavenaugh have purchased James Ranch in Wayne, Oklahoma and will rename it Cavenaugh Quarter Horses. Longtime horseman Mike Turner has been named the farm manager.

"We are very excited to move our breeding operation to this outstanding facility," Fran Cavenaugh said in a Facebook post last week. "We want to thank David James for all this help in his adventure. We look forward to this new phase of our business. Thanks to everyone who has wished us well and congratulated us."

The Cavenaughs have brought three of their four stallions to the ranch for 2021, the royally bred A Sweet Jess, Ryder Rite and Good Candy P. All three stallions' first-crops will arrive in 2022. Their two-time AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Uncle D ($689,165) will remain at Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

GOOD CANDY P

Good Candy P SI 92, a grade 1 three-quarter brother to two-time champion All American Futurity(G1) winner and leading second-crop sire Jess Good Candy, will stand for a 2022 fee of $1,000, with consideration. His first crop arrives in 2022.

Owned by Cavenaugh Quarter Horses, LLC, Good Candy P was the high-seller at the 2018 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $340,000. The sorrel stallion won or placed in two of seven career starts earning $58,891. He was a finalist in the Grade 1 $1 million Ruidoso QH Futurity and the Grade 3 $48,500 Mr Master Bug Stakes at Remington Park.

Good Candy P's sire, two-time AQHA Racing Champion Good Reason SA SI 102 ($1,446,727), won the Champion of Champions(G1) and the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1).
