LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JANUARY 10, 2019—Bill Hoburg's BH Lisas Boy is already an eight-time stakes winner and a four-time Grade 1 stakes winner at Los Alamitos in his career. The 7-year-old gelding has a chance to become the first ever three-time winner of the Grade 1 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship with his first step towards that goal being the 400-yard trials to be held next week on Sunday, January 20.

An outstanding group of older horses is expected to be in action in the Winter Championship trials. The list of likely participants in the trials include seven runners that competed in last year's Champion of Champions.

In addition to BH Lisas Boy, other Champion of Champions finalists that could race in the trials are Grade 1 winners He Looks Hot, Jesstacartel, Jess Ravin and Zoomin For Spuds. Yanque and LD Is Back have also been training for these trials. The winner of the Brad McKinzie final on February 10 will earn the first berth to the 2019 Champion of Champions.

There are 38 sophomores eligible to race in the trials to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby on Saturday, January 19. The list includes PCQHRA Breeders Futurity winner Cole Man 47, Governor's Cup Futurity winner Powerful Favorite, Wild West Futurity winner KR Hi Five and multiple Grade 1 finalist Mister Appolitical. The Winter Derby final at 400 yards is on February 9.
