Funeral Services Set Monday For Longtime Oklahoma Horseman Paul Howard

ADA, OK—OCTOBER 27, 2018—Memorial services for Paul Howard, 77, of Allen, Oklahoma are set for 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Lovelady Baptist Church in Ada. Reverend Coy Howry will officiate with assistance from Charles Howard.

Mr. Howard passed away Monday (Oct. 22) at his home. He was born December 1, 1940 to Sam and Lois Trigg Howard at Caney, Oklahoma. Paul trained and owned race horses.

With his brother James and nephew Sam, he won the 1978 All American Futurity with AQHA Racing champion Moon Lark and the 1979 Horseman's QHRA Championship at Los Alamitos Race Course to name only a few.

Along with his partner, Buck Burris, he won the 1984 Black Gold Futurity and 1985 Rainbow Derby with Spring Lark.

His love of horses was only rivaled by his love of God and family.

After leaving the horse business, Paul was a truck driver for TLC.

Paul was a member of Lovelady Baptist Church. He was a generous man and helped many throughout his life.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lois Trigg Howard; brothers, Leon Howard, Gerald Howard and his wife Ora, Phillip Howard and wife Opal, Billy Joe Howard, and James Howard; a sister, Delores and husband Nathan Watson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max Woodhull and Hazel White; and brother-in-law, Michael Woodhull.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Susan (Susie) Howard, of the home; children, Beckey Wainscott, and Rockey Howard, Jim Bob Howard and Velton Howard, all of Ada, and Destry Fleming of Mansfield, TX; his brothers, Tom Howard and wife Catherine of Caddo, Charles Howard and wife Peggy of Caney; sisters-in-law, Donna Howard, Oakland, OR and Jody Howard Wilkettt, McAlester; his grandchildren, Shyra Nunley and husband Dalton, Amber Vandevere and husband Issac, Amber Williams and husband Stevie, Kelsey Howard, Brandy Wainscott, and Frankie Howard; several great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Shade Woodhull and wife Janine; and his hospice family, Neidra Foley Young RN, and aide, Christal Minor; and a host of good neighbors and friends.
