Jockey Juan Sanchez Recovering Following Bladder Surgery

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 27, 2018— Jockey Juan Sanchez is recovering on Saturday morning after undergoing bladder surgery at Long Beach Memorial agent Frank Quezada told Los Alamitos’ Ed Burgart.

Burgart provided the update on his Twitter feed @qheddie. Sanchez was injured during a riding accident in the first race on Friday night at Los Alamitos. @qheddie: "Jockey Juan Sanchez, unseated when his mount (Gamezapper) fell in Friday Los Al 1st race, underwent surgery on his bladder at Long Beach Memorial. He has complete movement and is being monitored for minor bleeding near brain. He also suffered fractured jaw and ribs. Updates to come." Sanchez is currently the leading Thoroughbred jockey with 68 wins at Los Alamitos. He tied with Vinnie Bednar for the Thoroughbred riding title last year.
