More LQHBA Scholarship Presentations Set for July 7 at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—JUNE 27, 2018—An evening of racing, with total purses of $1.4 million to be awarded, is on tap Saturday at Delta Downs and include finals for the $700,000 Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1), $268,655 Delta Downs Louisiana-Bred Derby(RG3) and the $50,000-Guaranteed Louisiana Juvenile Invitational.

First post is at 5:45 p.m. (CDT)

Breeding and racing are certainly top priorities for the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA), but one very important goal of the association is to promote education for Louisiana youth.

Since 2001, the LQHBA scholarship program has granted over $500,000 for students attending a higher education institution. In the continuing tradition of combining recognition of youth on big race days, two students will be awarded $1,500 scholarships on Saturday at Delta Downs.

Applicants must register in person between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (CST) on race day (Saturday, July 7, 2018). A registration table will be located at the foot of the escalator on the casino level. Participant/entrant must be a Louisiana High School Graduate or a student who is graduating from a Louisiana High School in 2019 and planning to attend a higher education institution.

The scholarship is limited to the cost of tuition, books (electronic or printed) and required electronic study materials only, and payment will be made directly from LQHBA to the educational institution that the recipient attends.

"Our board of directors and association members take great pride in helping to furthering the education of Louisiana students," said Tony Patterson, executive director of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association.

"We thank Delta Downs for their support and Jet Black Patriot's owners and Robicheaux Ranch, Inc for sponsoring these two scholarships."
