Jockey Cesar De Alba One Away From 1,000 Career Quarter Horse Wins

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 11, 2018— Jockey Cesar De Alba begins the racing week at Los Alamitos Race Course one win shy of 1,000 career Quarter Horse victories.

De Alba, the leading Quarter Horse jockey at Los Alamitos in 2016, will have a chance to reach the mark here on Friday night, as he’ll ride four Quarter Horses during the eighth race card.

De Alba’s first chance to pick up the milestone win comes in race number five aboard Ron Hartley’s 2-year-old filly Bookofmatches, who is 5-2 in the morning line. He’ll also ride Sergio Salguero’s 7-2 shot Unnleashed in the sixth race, Hartley’s 4-1 shot Capitol Grille in the seventh, and Jesus Avila and Miguel Vergara’s 6-1 shot Im Rocket Man in the eighth.

De Alba has ridden 5,937 Quarter Horses in his career, won 999 races, finished second 952 times and third 852 times during his 16-year career.

His mounts have earned over $15.1 million, including a personal best of nearly $1.9 million in 2014. De Alba has won 969 Quarter Horse races at his home track of Los Alamitos including 21 wins with the great AQHA champion and multiple Grade 1 winner Moonist.

De Alba has also won Grade 1 races with BH Lisas Boy, Time For Jess, Little Talks, Strength In Numbers, and Bon Accord plus stakes wins with One Proud Eagle, Strawfinders Jessee, Significant Heart, Kissed By An Eagle, AJS Anna Smoke, Zoomin For Spuds, etc.

De Alba has also won 301 Thoroughbred races during his career.
