Funeral Services Set Friday for Longtime Horseman Modesto Robles

ODESSA, TX—MARCH 22, 2018—Funeral services are set Friday for longtime horseman Modesto Robles, 62 of Odessa, Texas. He passed away Tuesday surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1321 W. Monahans Street in Odessa. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 am to 9 pm at the Odessa Funeral Home Chapel on 1700 N. Jackson. A rosary will be held at 7 pm.

Modesto Robles was born February 24, 1956 to Guadalupe and Maria Robles in El Por Venir Chihuahua Mexico. He married the love of his life Luz Elva Robles on December 16, 1978 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Ft. Hancock Texas.

Modesto was a veteran; he served in the United States Navy. He was an electrician. He was a passionate horse owner, horse racer, and a member of American Quarter Horse Association.

Among stakes winners raced by Modesto were Viva La Vicky winner of the 2004 West Texas Derby and the 2005 La Mariposa Quarter Horse Handicap.

He is survived by his wife Luz Elva, children Sergio and wife Tara Robles, Ricardo and wife Viviana Robles, Alejandro and wife Aglale Robles, and Modesto Robles Jr... He is also survived by his seven grandchildren Naileah, Taylor, Davien, Carrie, Guadalupe, Alexis and Boston. Sisters: Manuela Cadena, Maria Elena Garcia, Jesusita and husband Alejandro Luna. Brothers: Lorenzo and wife Jill Robles, Guadalupe and his wife Benita Robles. He is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe Robles and Maria de la luz Quezada and a nephew Guadalupe "Lupito" Robles.
