Special Early 4 pm Post Set Saturday For Oklahoma Futurity Trials

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--MARCH 8, 2018--A special 4 pm EARLY POST TIME has been set Saturday for the Oklahoma Futurity(G3) trails at Remington Park.

The Oklahoma City racetrack will host 12 qualifying trials (see related story) over 300 yards for the historic Grade 3 Oklahoma Futurity.

The oldest continuously running futurity in the US, the 77th running of the $400,000-est. Oklahoma Futurity will be contested Saturday, March 24. The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday's trials will return to compete in the final and second 10 fastest will be preferred eligible for the $50,0000 Guaranteed Oklahoma Juvenile.

The very first running of the Oklahoma Futurity was back in 1947 and was won by Bud Warren's Leo filly Leota W at the Tulsa State Fair. Notable winners of the race over the year's include AQHA Racing World Champions Mr Bar None and See Me Do It.

The Oklahoma Futurity for 2-year-olds bounced around the state of Oklahoma for years running at tracks in Tulsa, Pawnee, Pawhuska and Enid before moving to La Mesa Park in Raton, N.M.

It stayed in Raton for over a decade. Oklahoma got it back in 1984. After a court fight it moved to Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw before finding its permanent home at Remington Park in 2006.

The 2018 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season at Remington Park starts with a weekend of activity Friday, March 9 thru Sunday, March 11. The first race on Opening Night, March 9 is at 6pm. The first race on Saturday, March 10 starts at 4pm. Sunday action on March 11 is underway at 1:30pm.

The Remington Park season will continue thru June 2 with a total of 50 race dates scheduled.
