RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JANUARY 9, 2018— The initial payment of $250 for foals of 2017 to be nominated to the 2019 All American Triple Crown at Ruidoso Downs must be postmarked by January 15.

That $250 payment nominates the foal of 2017 to the 2019 runnings of the Grade 1, $3-million (est.) All American Futurity, the Grade 1, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (est.), the Grade 1, $1-million (est.) Ruidoso Futurity and then the 2020 Grade 1 All American Derby, Grade 1 Rainbow Derby and the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby.

Thus, the $250 nomination payment for a foal of 2017 starts the eligibility process for six iconic Grade 1 quarter horse races-contingent upon receipt of all sustaining payments.

If any horse wins all three futurities then the winner’s connections receive the $2-million All American Triple Crown Futurity Bonus.

The foals of 2017 are also nominated to races for horses that do not make the finals of the Grade 1 futurities: The All American Juvenile, the Rainbow Juvenile and the Ruidoso Juvenile.

When the foals of 2017 are three-year-olds in 2020 they may become eligible to the Grade 1 derbies – the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby, Grade 1 Rainbow Derby and the Grade 1 All American Derby — if all payments are paid.

They also may become eligible to the Mr Jess Perry, the Corona Cartel and the First Down Dash. The Mr Jess Perry is for horses that did not qualify for the Ruidoso Derby, the Corona Cartel is for horses that did not qualify for the Rainbow Derby and the First Down Dash is for horses that did not qualify for the All American Derby.

This year, Ruidoso Downs will inaugurate the ongoing the $1-million All American Triple Crown Derby Bonus for the connections of any horse that sweeps the three derbies.

There is also a payment due on January 15 for nominated foals of 2016 to remain eligible to this summer’s Ruidoso, Rainbow and All American futurities. The Ruidoso Futurity payment is $700, the Rainbow Futurity payment is $700 and the All American Futurity payment is $800.

These horses will compete for the $2-million All American Triple Crown Futurity Bonus.
