TUCSON, AZ—FEBRUARY 12, 2017—The Rillito Park Foundation announced last week that PariBet LLC, an advanced deposit wagering service, is partnering with Rillito Park Racetrack to sponsor students in the University of Arizona's Race Track Industry Program (RTIP) who work at the racetrack during its 2017 winter meet.
The sponsorship, which will be known as the PariBet Racetrack Industry Student Experience (PRISE), was created by Mike Weiss, general manager of Rillito Park and president of PariBet, as an opportunity for students who want to work in the racing industry to learn about and work in racetrack operations while attending the RTIP.
"Rillito Park provides the perfect environment for college students to gain hands-on experience in roles that are vital to racetrack operations," said Weiss. "Through PRISE, students will be able to work in paid positions ranging from entry clerk to photo finish operator and gain insight into what roles they may want to take on in the racing industry upon graduation."
The list of jobs that will be filled by student employees this winter includes but is not limited to entry clerk, photo finish operator, track handicapper, assistant clocker, chart caller, and social media manager.
The 2017 winter meet marks the third racing season in which Rillito Park will be hiring students from the Race Track Industry Program. However, this will be the first season in which the students will be sponsored by PariBet.
Last month, the Pima County Board of Supervisors agreed to extend a lease agreement to allow Rillito Park to continue hosting horse racing through 2021. Rillito Park's 14-day meet began on February 11.
