AQHA Names Jen Perkins Director of Racing

Q-RACING JOURNAL—AUGUST 28, 2015—Jen Perkins of Minneapolis, Minnesota, will begin work at the American Quarter Horse Association as the director of racing on September 21. As such, Perkins will coordinate programs designed to build ownership of American Quarter Horses among racing audiences.

Her duties will include the development and implementation of race marketing strategies, as well as coordination of the enrollment and nomination process and racing activities for the Bank of America Racing Challenge.

Perkins grew up in the Intermountain region; her family bred and raced American Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, and she became a racing fan at a young age. She attended the Race Track Industry Program at the University of Arizona, where she interned at Sam Houston Race Park and assisted AQHA with research and marketing projects. She became an AQHA Wrangler Racing Ace in 2010, allowing her to travel to tracks and interact with fans and horsemen across the country.

Perkins has worked in marketing for a large software company, as a marketing consultant for an advance deposit wagering company, and most recently as a marketing manager for BAM Software and Services LLC.
