LEXINGTON, KY—OCTOBER 20, 2014—On October 1, 2014 Race Track Chaplaincy of America (RTCA) hosted their Second Annual Golf Tournament at Griffin Gate Golf Club in Lexington. KY. With the support of 14 participating teams, over $1,000 was raised for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF), a non-profit charity that provides financial assistance to former jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries (pdjf.org).

The RTCA Chaplains and their volunteers are well aware of the tremendous risk and danger our jockeys face when they hear “riders up” and thunder around the race track. They have been present at many an accident scene involving the serious injury of a jockey. They also provide an inspirational thought for the day to our jockeys before the start of each race day.

This contribution is a way to help PDJF for the work they do every day; an organization that gives tremendous help and hope. As a Christian non-profit RTCA also provides both help and hope to all those persons involved in the horse racing industry by serving their spiritual, emotional, physical and social needs. For more information about RTCA visit www.rtcanational.org.

Among this year’s event sponsors were; WinStar Farm, Brook Ledge Horse Transportation, The Jockeys’ Guild and Miller, Mayer, Sullivan & Stephens, LLP. Next year, the Third Annual Golf Tournament will take place on October 1, 2015.
