TALLAHASSEE, FL—AUGUST 15, 2014—Nominations are due today for several stakes races to run at the upcoming Hialeah Park winter meet.
The meet opens on December 26 and runs through March 2. It offers eight Quarter Horse races per day with daily purses averaging $140,000 per day, for a total of $5.6 million up for grabs. The meet's biggest race is the $500,000-est. Hialeah Derby for foals of 2012. The trials for the race are set for December 27, and offer $15,000 purses for each trial—the second-richest trial purse amount offered in the country. Those who qualify to the January 18 final will be running for $200,000 in added money.
Nomination payments and/or late payments for the Hialeah Derby and others stakes races at the meet are due today (August 15).

Trials: Dec. 28, 2014, purse $15,000
Finals: January 28, 2015
FQHRA Stallion Stakes Derby, $50,000 Added
350 yards for foals of 2012 sired by eligible stallions
Trials: December 29, 2014, purse $12,000
Finals:January 18, 2015
Sunshine State Derby, $30,000 Added
400 yards for Accredited Florida Bred foals of 2011
Trials: Feb. 7, 2015, purse $12,000
Finals: Feb. 28, 2015
South Florida Derby, $100,000 Added
440 yards for foals of 2012
Trials: Feb. 8, 2015, purse $15,000
Finals: March 1, 2015
